The Purpose of the National Mathematics and Science Competition (NMSC) is
Students from 4th grade through 11th grade of students can participate in this competition on two subject matters; math and science. Once a year, this competition takes place in many different cities in the U.S. and Canada. The math competition is in the form of a written examination and the science competition is a group competition in which several grades of students are grouped and work to solve the given science topics together.
No calculators or rulers are allowed for the math competition. The competition will last 60 minutes for the 4th through 8th grade; and 90 minutes for the 9th, 10th and 11th. (For more info, please visit http://www.ksea.org/nmsc)
