KUSCO Scholarship

KUSCO/KSEA Scholarship for Graduate Students

Purpose

KUSCO/KSEA scholarship program recognizes outstanding Graduate Students who have demonstrated excellent talents in the fields of science and engineering and helps identify and nurture potential leaders of scientific community for closer cooperation between Korea and the US in the future.

Summary of Scholarship

KUSCO operates this program in cooperation with the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA). KSEA will handle all the logistics including announcing scholarship program, soliciting applications and performing a screening process through the professional subcommittees. And KUSCO would determine the final selection of scholarship awardees among selected candidates. Final selections need to present an abstract for a poster or oral presentation at US-Korea Conference (UKC) on Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship. UKC is usually taken place on August every-year.

Number of recipients would be around 10 to 15 persons a year. Awardees will receive $2,000 and have an opportunity to attend the Award Ceremony. The certificate and scholarship fund will be presented at the UKC Conference. Travel expense for attending the Award Ceremony will be reimbursed by KUSCO up to $700 (This is subject to change based on the location).

KUSCO Scholarship for Descendants of Korean War Veterans (D.K.V.)

Purpose

KUSCO Scholarship for descendants of Korean War veterans program recognizes outstanding Undergraduate/Graduate Students who have demonstrated excellent talents in the fields of science and engineering and helps identify and nurture potential leaders of scientific community for closer cooperation between Korea and the US in the future.

Summary of Scholarship

The Korea-US Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO) is pleased to announce a new scholarship program in honor and recognition of US Veterans who served in the Korean War. ELIGIBILITY IS THOSE VETERANS WHO SERVED IN KOREA'S LAND, AIR AND SEA (Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines) FROM JUNE 25, 1950 THROUGH OCTOBER 24, 1954.
These Veterans fought under incredibly difficult circumstances and many gave their lives for Korea’s freedom. In honor of these veteran’s KUSCO will offer their descendants whom are students majoring in science and engineering an opportunity to apply for a scholarship.

KUSCO’s scholarship program will recognize outstanding students who have demonstrated excellent talents in the fields of science and engineering. Furthermore, it will help identify and nurture future leaders in the scientific community for closer cooperation between Korea and the US in the future. Awardees will receive a check of $2,000 each from KUSCO and be given an opportunity to attend an Award Ceremony and present his/her research poster at the U.S.-Korea Conference on Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship (UKC 2013), August 8-11. Travel expense for attending the award ceremony will be reimbursed by KUSCO.
