KUSCO registered as the Korea-US Science Corporation Inc. with the Commonwealth of Virginia. When the US-Korea Summit was held in Washington, DC in 1995, the two presidents agreed and acknowledged the need for establishing a Center for promotion of science and technology cooperation between Korea and the United States.

Under the core mission of becoming a leading organization supporting mutual cooperation between the U.S. and Korea in scientific, engineering and technology exchange, KUSCO attracted such tenants as the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) and Korean-American Scholarship Foundation (KASF), one of the major US-Korea Science and Education related organization.
The formal opening ceremony was held on February, 20, 1997 with more than 200 invitees. This historical event was celebrated by outstanding guests including Mr. Kin-Ho Park, President, KUSCO, Dr. Bohn-Young Koo, Minister, MOST, Dr. Neal Lane, Director, NSF, Dr. Saeyoung Ahn, Chairman, KSEA and etc
